She brings 20+ years’ experience in the cultural industries, as a Senior Manager and CEO, and as a grantmaker and policymaker.
As an Uilleann Piper she is steeped in the traditional music of Ireland and is passionate about how English Folk Expo can foster creative opportunities.
As a Changemaker in the cultural industries, she is passionate about supporting these evolving environments to flourish.
As a specialist in participation and inclusion, she wants to make a real impact in increasing open and free access to culture, making the opportunities fairer and diversifying leadership for future generations.
As a Fundraiser her track record with philanthropy, government and grantmakers has resulted in 6 and 7-figure results. Recently she advised on post-Covid cultural recovery in Rochdale Borough and raised £1.1 million for culture, and for this was commended in a House of Commons in a debate on Culture.
Jan is a Songleader and she leads community choirs as well as being Director of the Calderdale Fantasy Orchestra choir.
She has worked with Arts Councils in Ireland and in New Zealand and is passionate about supporting artists and organisations to innovate and grow.
