
Mikey Kenney is a traditional fiddle player and musicologist from Liverpool held in high regard by his peers, Mikey has a reputation for making quality music and producing wondrous flourishes of superb creativity. A multi-talented and in-demand collaborator, he is a professional international touring musician whose academic background fuels an interest in a variety of fiddle styles and genres (Irish, English, Scottish, Bluegrass, Jazz).
A well travelled session musician, he has worked with the likes of Vinicio Capossela (Italy), Band of Burns, Alabaster dePlume, Dan Haywood’s New Hawks, Victor Herrero (Spain) & Josephine Foster (USA). He is an accomplished recording artist and producer, with his own releases receiving much acclaim; his last two albums ‘the Reverie Road’ and ‘the Counsel of Owls’ both being rated 5/5 by fRoots magazine.
An experienced teacher, Mikey has been hosting workshops on the subject of fiddle-playing traditions for many years. He is currently working as project co-ordinator for the Lancashire Turns and Tunes project, exploring social dancing traditions across historic Lancashire and is also working on an independent regional sound archive project with the Lancashire archives.
