Katy Rose Bennett (formerly known as KTB) has been writing and performing her idiosyncratic brand of elegant folk for over 20 years. October 2020 sees Katy launch the album ‘Where does it hurt? An Introduction to Katy Rose Bennett’ featuring songs from her considerable back catalogue as well as two new songs including the album’s title track. She released the single ‘Where Does It Hurt?’ on September 25th 2020.
“Gentle acoustics from the Nick Drake school… literate songs which ride youth’s emotional rollercoaster… strikingly original.” UNCUT
“Sophisticated mix of folk, jazz, pop and rustica.” The Independent
After suffering emotional set-backs earlier on in her musical career and after following a different path in the last decade, Katy has recently returned to songwriting with a new-found passion and energy. She came to realise that, for her, writing songs and being a creative artist are not occasional hobbies:
“They are my reasons for being and my purpose in life – connecting people through song is what I Iive for.”
She writes songs of love, despair, grief and hope, and our connection to the natural world.
During 19/20 Katy took part in English Folk Expo’s Artist Mentoring Programme.
