Hannah Martin is a singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist, best known for her work as part of the duo Edgelarks. With their “world music from the westcountry”, Edgelarks have toured the world from Japan to South Africa, Canada to Australia.
Winners of the BBC Folk Award for Best Duo, the pair also play as part of Peter Knight’s Gigspanner Big Band; and formed part of the lineup for The Band of Love, playing to a crowd of 50,000 for Hyde Park’s Festival in a Day, just before Kylie Minogue! Hannah has played with the very best of the British folk world, as part of Nancy Kerr’s Sweet Visitor Band, Steve Knightley’s Wake the Union band, and as part of the protest song collective Shake The Chains. She has also written for theatre, including Bristol Old Vic’s “Death and Treason, Rhyme and Reason” (exploring the origins of nursery rhymes); and most recently, a specially commissioned lockdown show for Theatre Alibi, weaving stories of local people into songs.
Edgelarks recently announced a new album ‘Henry Martin’, which was recorded at home during the first lockdown and is released on 11th Dec 2020.
