12 – 12.30pm: Keynote Q&A with Dr. Claire Mera-Nelson, Director of Music at Arts Council England – Dr. Mera-Nelson discusses with Tom Besford what the future of culture looks like and how ACE are supporting the recovery of the folk, roots and acoustic music sector.
12.30pm – 1pm: Exploring how new models for live music have thrived during the pandemic 1 – Folk Musician Hannah Martin of Edgelarks talks to David Spier about how his Beardy Folk Festival triumphed despite the challenges of COVID-19.

1.15 – 1.45pm: Exploring how new models for live music have thrived during the pandemic 2 – Folk Musician Katy Rose Bennett talks with Cat McGill of Live To Your Living Room about how she set up her online Zoom concert series, how it works and some of the success stories so far.
1.45- 2.30pm: #TradStandsWithHer – Safeguarding and Gender Equality in the Folk Sector. In August 2020 the TradStandsWithHer hashtag emerged on social media and called for a ‘fundamental culture change to ensure women’s safety, equality and dignity within the folk sector’. Here Jenn Butterworth (The BIT Collective) (Chair), Rachel Elliott (EFDSS), Lucy Ward (Thank Folk For Feminism) and Emily Portman (Esperance) discuss what positive changes have happened since and what still needs to be done.
2.30- 2.45pm: Break
2.45 – 3.30pm: Passport? Ticket? What Else? – What Brexit means for touring in the EU from 2021– Angie Rance (United Talent Agency), Ian Smith, Mark Ringwood and Roger Patterson (all of ukeartswork.info) give you some helpful insights into what you need to know before embarking on an EU tour next year.
3.30-4pm: Folk Talk Together – First there was our Folk Talk video series, next came Folk Talk Live and then Folk Talk Together was born. A regular (Zoom) meeting of minds, our three strands of Folk Talk Together unite UK Folk Artists, Folk Programmers / Promoters and Folk Agents to discuss challenges, share tips and offer a support network during the COVID-19 pandemic. In this session Harkirit Boparai (The Crescent, York) (Chair), Terry O’Brien (EFEx & Playpen Agency), David Agnew (EFEx / So It Is / The Met) and Folk Musician Sam Sweeney discuss what Folk Talk Together has achieved so far, the main challenges that have arisen and what happens next.

4.15- 5pm: Licence to Sing! – Licensing for Live Streaming – Arranging your backdrop to look nice for your live stream is the fun part, but what about the things you need to have in place that your audience can’t see? Hear Keith Harris, OBE (Chair), Jez Bell (Chief Licensing Officer at PPL), Nick Edwards (Head of Online at PRS) and Ruth Barlow (Director of Live at Beggars Group) explain the complexities of live streaming licensing.
5pm: Q&A with Beverley Whitrick, Strategic Director at Music Venue Trust – Beverley discusses the extensive work of Music Venues Trust during the global pandemic, what the future might hold and how the work of Music Venues Trust is supporting the folk, roots and acoustic music sector.
