EFEx TRAINEE PROMOTER PROGRAMME

English Folk Expo are delighted to announce the five young people who will be taking part in a new Trainee Promoter Programme. The participants, aged 18-25, will work with the EFEx team to deliver a range of live music events throughout the year including Rochdale Folk Festival, Campfire Clubs and Manchester Folk Festival.

EFEx Chief Executive Tom Besford said, ‘following the impact of the past two years, it’s more important than ever to support the next generation of music industry professionals into sustainable careers. I’m really looking forward to working with Safa, Jasmine, Edi, Barney and Kate over the coming months as they learn meaningful skills, build professional networks and begin their journey as music promoters.’

Over 6 months, EFEx will work with this group providing training and hands on event management experience across our upcoming concert promotions, Rochdale Folk Festival and Manchester Folk Festival. Each participant is paid for their time and have the opportunity to promote their own concert in Autumn 2022 supported by the EFEx team.

The Team are:

Kate Gambhir
After the support of BBC Radio Manchester, Band On The Wall and MJF in 2021, Kate continues to dominate a new outlook of the Singer Songwriter genre in her beloved hometown of Manchester. Kate will be showcasing new original music soon, as well as offering her audience an opportunity to attend an intimate show this spring.

Safa Majid
Safa Majid is an engineering student at Bury college. She has worked alongside many different companies to help manage and organize events, including the Rahat Fateh Ali Khan concert at the AO arena. Currently she is working alongside Sleek Asian on their biggest Pakistani Expo which will be held in Trafford Centre.

Edi Milner
A passionate musician and self proclaimed queer icon, Edi has interest in all areas of the music industry. Currently studying a songwriting degree at BIMM Manchester they can often be found with pen to paper or on stage with their own band ‘Millie Milner and The Deadnames’.

Jasmine Rowland
Originally from South London, Jasmine Rowland has spent the last four years getting involved in the Manchester music scene where possible. From establishing her own events, getting on board with Manchester International Festival to getting involved with Radio and DJing at various locations around the city!

Barney Whittaker
Barney is a recent graduate of KCL where he studied English Language & Linguistics. Having gained event production experience at Birmingham Town Hall & Symphony Hall, he is delighted as a Manchester-based musician to be part of the team for 2022.
